VW Republic

A couple of weeks ago I threw a quick little cruise-in together as the spur of the moments and, low & behold, we had seven VW’s out again. Not the same ones as the last time we had seven out there but great cars. Sonny & Michelle didn’t make this one and we hope his ankle is ready to rock along with Todd’s bug.

We need to get something together soon. If you are interested in a nice lunch cruise one of these days soon give me a ring 435-703-5981 and let’s do it. all we need is about seven or eight to make it a cool deal.

We could do lunch someplace like Red Rock Roasting, Stagecoach, Oscar’s, Thunderbird, 1880 Grille, Main Street Cafe, Los Lupes, or SUGGESTIONS?????.

It has been a while since anything was posted on this site so I thought I would give it a go. I gave up on the VWRepublic FaceBook page because it was chitchat and not really anything important regarding cruises, repairs, parts, modifications, or things I am after.

The VW available repairs, especially for buses, sure is limited around here. Body work by Big Mike at Wasatch County Collision, DubFab and Michael Anderson suspension modifications, and basically anything to do with normal maintenance and engine work is about as difficult to crack as an iPhone’s login.

Some young person could get rich around here doing engine work on any air cooled. I had John over off Diagonal adjust my valves last time (great job by the way), Grease Monkey changed my oil, and Scott Lewis’s attempt to adjust a carb. PLEASE, now that Ozzie is riding the cruise line waves, get into real engine work in Washington County.

Sorry everyone for being such  slacker here lately, but I am still occasionally posting, as others are as well, on VWRepublic’s Facebook page. I am still doing a car blog and include a lot of VW stuff on http://www.myatrium.com/.

I am an old guy and trying to build tis whole page from scratch is a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be. This s not my first development but it sure is harder these days. So, please check back periodically and see what’s up. If you know of any events please send the info to me. Thanks 

My wife and I are so lucky to be beyond the years we need to work all of the time and now we can pretty much do what we want when we want. We have a goal to drive our bus a minimum of 50 miles per day. The drawback this time of year, of course, is the afternoon winds that seem to appear out of nowhere. Our ’68 Bay does not like that 30-40 mph stuff and makes the driving a nerve racking endeavor instead of a chill-out cruise.

All you Dubbers who still hold down jobs……out hats off to you. I remember when having any free time was tough to come by with obligations in every aspect of life. My advice….get comfortable, safe seats and use them as soccer mom-dad-mobiles. Never miss an opportunity to cruise. Take my word for it the time wills hoot on by and you can never really make up for a missed opportunity. More always come along but don’t think your days are un-numbered.
